He was born in Yantley, Ala. He had been employed for Firestone Tire & Rubber Co., was a member of United Baptist Church, faithful member of Elks Pride #1594 of Rubber Town and the Private Social Club.
Preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Lillie Townsend, Clara (Jesse) Brooks; wives, Mary and Jacquelyn Brooks; daughter, Glynis Brooks; son, Vackers Marsh Jr.; brothers, Jesse and Theodore Brooks; and sister, Mary Wright, she is survived by sons, Collie C. (Almay) Brooks Jr. of Mississippi, Chauncey (Augusta) Brooks, Shon (Carla) Marsh; Colleen (John) Brooks, Dawn Brooks, Shenequa (Michael) Bickley, Towanda (Allan)Thomas; sister, Bertha Ford, all of Akron; special cousin, Clifton Davis; god children, Debra Myers, Corrie, Patty, Sandy, Kathy Alexander; niece, Melody (Kenneth) Redon; 28 grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Greater Bethel Baptist Church, 404 S. Arlington St. with Pastor Melford Elliott officiating. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 12 noon until time of service. Interment at Mount Peace Cemetery. Procession will form at 1161 Bellows St. and condolences may be sent to 215 Cole Ave. 44301
