Kenneth Roy Davis, Jr. left this life and entered his eternal life in heaven on April 11, 2012.|
He was born March 20, 1923, in West Virginia. His family moved to Akron in 1925. He was a graduate of Hower Vocational High School. He served his country during World War II in the Marines (6th Division) and fought on Okinawa and Guam. He and his family are very proud of his service in the Marines, and he was always ready to talk with fellow Marines.
He grew up in the East Market Street Church of God and attended there until he was unable to attend any longer for health reasons. It was there he met his wife and raised his family.
Kenneth worked at Goodyear Aerospace from 1950 through 1988 when he retired at age 65. In his retirement years, he enjoyed times with family and spending time outdoors around his home.
He was always loving toward his wife in words and in actions. He frequently expressed his love and appreciation for her. He was proud of his sons and always let them know of his love for them. He was glad to see his extended family and considered it a joy to spend time with them. He was unfailingly pleasant and described by others as a good and kind man. His family and friends will miss his cheerful spirit and stories.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Anna Davis (nee Livingston), who dearly loved him. He is also survived by his two sons, Rod Davis (Robin), Ken Davis (Debbie); and his grandchildren, Gregory (Joni), Stephanie (Dan), and Daniel (Amy); and seven great-grand-children.
The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. Thomas Breen and Dr. Roger Chaffee and the caring doctors and staffs at Summa Hospital, Akron General Hospital, and Windsong Rehabilitation for their outstanding care and concern.
We will miss an exceptional man, but we praise God that he knew Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Precious in the sight of the LORD Is the death of His saints.
A funeral service celebrating and honoring his life will be held Sunday, 4 p.m. at Hecker Funeral Home, 13151 Cleveland Avenue NW, Uniontown, OH 44685, with Pastor Don Knipp officiating. A private graveside service will be held with veterans service conducted by Firestone VFW Post 3383. The family asks that, instead of flowers, an eternal gift be made by making donations to the Daniel and Flara Livingston Scholarship Endowment at the Pentecostal Theological Seminary, P.O. Box 3330, Cleveland, TN 37320 (Phone 423-478-1131).
