Arthur Barkley Jr. Obituary
Arthur Barkley Jr., 77, the eldest son of the late Arthur Sr. and Margaret Barkley, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2012. He was surrounded by his wife, daughters, and a host of family and close friends.

"Bones," as he was affectionately called, was born and raised in Akron, Ohio. After graduating from North High School, he served his country in both the United States Marine Corps and Army; returning as a veteran of the Korean War. In 1966, he married his sweetheart, Marilyn Jeanette Sneed. They were married 46 years and raised four children. He worked for several years for Chrysler Auto and General Tire; eventually retiring from Goodyear Tire in 2002. "Bro. Bones" was a faithful member of the Arlington Church of God, serving in many capacities over the years: chairman of the Trustee Board, president of the Men's Fellowship, and most recently chairman of the Deaconate Board. He loved working with the men of the church; he was actively involved in the Men's Choir and sang for the last time on August 5, 2012 during the camp meeting at West Middlesex, Pennsylvania.

He was preceded in death by triplet sons, Arthur III, Michael, and Joseph; parents, Arthur Sr. and Margaret Barkley; and brother, Kenneth G. Barkley. A devoted husband, he leaves behind, his wife of 46 years, Marilyn Barkley; and their four daughters who will cherish the memory of their loving and attentive father, Lisa (Larry) Young of Copley, Ohio, Dominique (Clement) Williams of Chesapeake, Va., Danielle (Keith) Howard of Macon, Ga., and Dawn Barkley of Norwalk, Calif. "Papa" was the consummate grandfather who doted on every one of his seven grandchildren, Lauren, Livia, and Logan Young; Gabriel, Samuel, and Noelle Howard; and Clement J. Williams. He also leaves behind devoted siblings, Edith (Gerry) Gulley of Akron, Ohio, Donald (Sandy) Barkley of Mesa, Ariz., and Gene Barkley of Akron, Ohio. He will be sadly missed by family and special friends too numerous to count.

Funeral service have been entrusted to Stewart and Calhoun Funeral Home. Calling hours will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Arlington Church of God, 539 Arlington Street, Akron, Ohio, with funeral service at 12 p.m. Interment immediately following. Family, friends, and out of town guests are invited to share dinner following the interment at Mt. Peace Cemetery, Akron, Ohio.
