Alan Ray Nicola Obituary
Alan Ray Nicola, age 71, died peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday October 10, 2012. Alan was born and raise in Akron, Ohio.

Alan was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Mae (Toth) Nicola and father, Jess Ray Nicola. He leaves behind one sister, Pat (Nicola) Noveroske who has taken care of him for seventeen years; he will also be missed by two nieces, Rhonda (William) Loveless of Salt Lake City, Utah and Diane Noveroske of Denver, Colorado; one nephew, Keith Noveroske of Akron, Ohio and first cousins, Frances Gathergood and Eleanor Johns of Akron; plus many second, third and fourth cousins; he also leaves five great nieces and nephews, Valerie (Brandon) Illguth of Utah, Linsey (John) Pickett of Texas, Emily (David) Harelson of Colorado, Bill Loveless VI and Hillary Loveless both of Salt Lake City, Utah; and seven great great nieces and nephews.

Alan graduated from Kenmore High School class of 1958. He also graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1962 and attended three years at the Akron University of Music. Alan played clarinet in the Akron University Symphony Orchestra. He loved classical music up until his death. Alan was a lifetime member of Concordia Lutheran Church of Akron. He loved signing in the choir and playing clarinet solos with the choir many times.

The family would like to thank all who loved Alan, especially the Staff at Respite on Manchester Rd., the choir, Pastor Robert Tauscher Jr. and the members of Concordia Lutheran Church.

Calling hours will be held Monday October 15, 2012 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Schlup-Pucak Funeral Home, 788 Kenmore Blvd., Akron, where funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. with Pastor Robert Tauscher Jr. officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Concordia Lutheran Church, 724 Sumner St., Akron, Ohio 44311 or NAMI Summit County, P.O. Box 462, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44222.
