Jack Durbin Obituary
SILVER LAKE -- Jack Durbin, 74, died unexpectedly Nov. 19, 2012.

Jack was a lifelong resident of the area, born in Akron and residing in Cuyahoga Falls and Silver Lake. He was an outstanding athlete, graduating from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1956. He went to Clemson on a football scholarship and then transferred to Kent State. He worked for the Cuyahoga Falls Fire Dept. for 32 years, from Dec. 1, 1960 until July 6, 1992, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant. He had also been a Study Hall Monitor at the high school and was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Jack was such a special man who always put his family first and loved his mom, wife, children and grandchildren so much! He enjoyed golfing with friends and anything and everything that involved his family -- trips to the Outer Banks, winters in Florida, traveling with Dale, visits with their children and grandchildren. Jack was loved by most everyone that knew him and was always the life of a party.

He was preceded in death by his father, John and brothers, Jim and Bill. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Dale; mother, Mary of Cuyahoga Falls; children, Dana (Jim) Lathrop of Chesterfield, Missouri, Tina (Aaron) Cantu of Broadview Heights, Duke (Lori) Durbin of Fairmont, W. Va., and Mickey (Tim) Trudgeon of Boulder, Colorado; grandchildren, Zach, Abby and Nicholas Lathrop, Alexis and Michael Cantu, Ashleigh, Kennedy and Izzy Durbin and Dominic Trudgeon; and his sister, Mary Joan (Jerry) Hodson of Cuyahoga Falls.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23 at The Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, where the Cuyahoga Falls Firefighters will conduct the Last Alarm Service. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Interment at Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael Cantu Medical Trust Fund by sending to Dollar Bank Central Services Department c/o Michael Cantu Medical Trust Fund, P.O. Box 765, Pittsburgh, PA 15230. Jack's video tribute will be viewable at cliffordshoemaker.com.
