Lionel Cecil Beard received his wings on November 23, 2012.|
Lionel was born January 7, 1950 in New Orleans, La. to Clara Dossie of New Orleans, La. He served faithfully as an Airman in the United States Air Force where he received a Purple Heart while serving his county during the Vietnam War. He was retired from the United States Postal Service, where he worked for 26 years. He was a member of the NAACP, VFW Local 350, Million Man March and loved partying at "The Wonder Club." Lionel's style was always exhibited and admired as he was always sharp in his suits, with the gold cufflinks and coat to match. We will always remember his special saying, "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift that's why they call it the present."
Lionel was a sports enthusiast and his favorite basketball and football teams were the Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Browns, respectively. He was always willing and able to engage in conversations pertaining to sports.
Lionel was a generous man with a heart of "pure gold" who loved people and he mastered the art of giving to those in need and those seeking advice and or guidance. Additionally, he was an avid traveler to those places and locations that interested him. Always a conversationalist, he enjoyed telling stories and getting his final point not only heard but understood. Lionel had a unique God given ability to articulate his position and persuade people to see it like he saw it.
