Joseph C. Mullin, Sr., 88, passed away Christmas Day, Tuesday, December 25, 2012.|
He was born January 15, 1924 in Washington, D.C. to Francis and Helen Mullin.
He was preceded in death by his son, George J. Mullin and is survived by his wife, Terese and his 12 remaining children: Joseph, Jr. (Therese), Helen McDowell (Kurt), Jerome (Terry), Mary Collery (Tom), Michael (Mindy), Patrick (Christine), Virginia, Thomas, James (Bea), Rose Marie Hughes (Gary), Margaret Simcox (Brian), and Paul (Mary Jane). He is also survived by 40 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Joe was a World War II Naval aviator, high school teacher and coach, and after government civilian service, an Asst. Professor of Criminal Justice at The University of Akron until his retirement.
His wife, all of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren are most grateful to God for having given him to us. He was an exemplary model of what a Catholic husband and father should be. We will miss him dearly and think of him every day with love and affection. Thank you, Pop, for being such a great dad.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 28th at the Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home, 3333 Kent Rd, Stow. A Requiem High Mass will be offered for the repose of his soul, Saturday December 29th, at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel, 2935 Chenoweth Rd., Akron. Burial will follow at Stow Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Masses may be offered for the repose of his soul and donations may be made to the George J. Mullin Memorial Fund for Weaver School and Workshop.
