CUYAHOGA FALLS -- Howard R. Base, 81, passed away January 26, 2013.
Mr. Base was born in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late Howard B. and Sue A. (Walko) Base. Howard was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and he retired from Brinks Armored Car, where he worked as a driver and messenger. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
Howard is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Lillian; sons, Robert (Beth), Kenneth (Patricia), John, and Howard J. (Kimberly); grandchildren, Susan, Matthew, Bradley (Brenda), Peter, Jessica, Patrick, Howard G. and Maggie; great-grandchild, Ethan and expected great-grandchild, Haley Elizabeth.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, January 30 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls. A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, January 31, at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1905 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, Fr. Thomas McCann officiating. Burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Memorial contributions, if desired, may be directed to Holy Family Hospice, 6707 State Rd., Cleveland, OH 44134.
