Charles R. "Bob" Turpin

Charles R. "Bob" Turpin, born July 25, 1925, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 17, 2013.

Bob was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and raised in Stanford, Ky. where he attended Stanford High School. Bob served in the Navy during World War II 1943-1946, where he proudly served on the USS San Jacinto with former President George H Bush. Bob returned home after the war and obtained his private pilot's license in Danville, Ky. in 1946. Bob moved to Akron in 1947 and was employed by Packaging Corporation of America, then went on to work for Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority where after 30 years of dedicated service retired in 1996. Bob was a member and active in organizations such as American Legion Post 777, 40/8 Local, Army/Navy 250 (chaplain), Airspace Place, and was a Kentucky Colonel. Bob loved to provide rides in his private airplane to his family and friends, and was involved with the Young Eagles.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Leanna; sister, Lois Jones of Naples, Fla.; children, Sue "Sudie" Farkas (Ron Jackson) and Scott (Sue) Turpin; niece, Sheila Jacobs of Massachusetts; step children, Tina and Vicki Habick; grandchildren, Billy (Kara) Farkas, Kelly Farkas (Scott), Melissa (Walter) Fullen, and Joey Turpin; step grandchildren, Nick and Darren; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Stone, Stiv, Brooke and Ephraim.

We would like to express our thanks to Pebble Creek Nursing Home staff for there loving care of our father and Tridia Hospice, you are the best.

Friends may call at the Bacher Funeral Home, 3326 Manchester Rd., Akron on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. where services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m., Pastor Donald Rohrbacher officiating. Interment at East Liberty Cemetery.
