Frank Smoot Obituary
Frank Smoot, of Naples, Fla., died February 9, 2013, after a short but determined fight with Glioblastoma; just short of his 79th birthday.

Born in Akron, Ohio to parents Annie Bea and Abernathy Smoot, Frank was one of five children; only his older brother, Charles of Akron survives.

Dad leaves behind his loving wife of 56 years, Betty (Boyce), whose wink at the shy boy on the church bus lead to a lifetime of love, and five children - John Smoot of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Louwana Oliva of State College, Pa., D'Juana Caldwell, Andrea Tercero and Amber Smoot all of Naples, Fla.; he also leaves behind seven grandchildren, all of whom he spoiled rotten.

Devoted to his children throughout his life, he and Mom scrimped and volunteered to give us all a Christian school education and never missed a birthday or a card on Valentine's Day, even after we kids were grown.

A graduate of Hower High School and a member of the Akron Baptist Temple, Dad served in the Army and was a retiree of the Akron Police Department. Dad had an infectious laugh, couldn't pass up a good yard sale, enjoyed time in his wood working shop, and made friends wherever he went.

Services will be held February 19, in Naples. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent to the family as they will be making a donation to offset the transportation cost for other glioblastoma patients.
