Donald L. Cox Obituary
SHARON TOWNSHIP -- Donald L. Cox, age 84, of Sharon Center, Ohio, passed away this March 21, 2013, surrounded by four generations of family.

He was born July 30, 1928, to Josephine and Les Cox. He graduated from Sharon High School in 1946 and his yearbook caption read, "Sports! Sports! Sports!" He was a veteran of the Korean War and received a Purple Heart medal for his valor. Not only did he take his talents and good looks with him to Korea, but he also took along his baseball glove. He met and married Helen Gron in 1956, and adored her for 57 years.

He shared his love of sports with many by coaching and running the Sharon Hi Tri baseball League, established Cox Painting baseball men's team in 1976, and was a founding member of Highland Youth Football. He not only won many championships throughout the years, but also touched many lives. One of the Youth Football directors once told his son, Gary, that Don would silently pay for kids who could not afford to play. He was inducted into the Greater Akron Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007.

He also started Cox Painting and Drywall, which has been in business for more than sixty years. His sons will carry on this family business in his honor. He also was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Donald L. Cox was preceded in death by his mother, Josephine, father, Les, his brother Jim, and his grandson, Eric Leslie.

Donald L. Cox is survived by his wife, Helen; four children, Gary, Greg (Krista), Gail, and Gib; he also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Becky Cox; his brother-in-law, Jack Gron (Shirley); seven grandchildren, Audra (Steven), Julia, Samantha, Matthew, Katie, Owen, Mark; and two great-grandchildren, Aiden and Preston.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman Street in Wadsworth, where Pastor Donald Trigg will conduct service Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.
