Sophia (Nicki) Palmer, 88, died Thursday, March 28, 2013. |
She was born in Newark, Ohio, living in Mansfield on the family farm. As "Rosie the Riveter" during World War II, she assisted in the construction of airplane wings. She was married to John W. H. Palmer and owned their own poultry market. Sophia also worked at O'Neil's for over 20 years. She belonged to the Women's Business Association and was an award winning Floral Club member. She was also a church event volunteer.
Sophia was a dedicated caretaker of her mother, father and husband for over 25 years. She was a very generous giver to her granddaughter and grandson's college education. She accomplished many great things all while being a breast cancer survivor. Her laughter, strength, kindness, love and giving spirit will be missed by many.
Sophia was preceded in death by her husband and daughter Cindy. She is survived by her son, James; and her grandchildren, Abbie and Matthew Frlich; and great grandchildren, Nathan and Isabella.
Calling hours 3 to 7 Wednesday at Ciriello & Carr Funeral Home (39 S. Miller Rd. Fairlawn 44333). Funeral services will be PRIVATE.
