Obituary Condolences

Alicia (Sapp) Harris Obituary
Alicia (Sapp) Harris, formerly of Akron, went to join the Lord on Saturday, May 4, 2013 after a long suffering with cancer.

Born on April 21, 1965 to Dorothy Scholl and the late William Sapp, Alicia embraced life fully. She loved the outdoors and one of her favorite jobs was working at Camp Ledgewood (Girl Scouts Camp) when she was younger. She worked various jobs in education which brought her great delight as she enjoyed teaching and mentoring young girls on how to be good people. It was her hope to finish her Master's Degree so she could start her own summer camp. It was at camp that she met and fell in love with Rodney Harris, which would result in over 20 years of unconditional love and laughter. Through this sickness she was able to see the harvest of friends that she had met along the way and she enjoyed the laughter and special memories made with each of them. Even though the journey was very hard, the help of others made it somewhat smoother.

She is mourned by her beloved husband of 20+ years, Rodney M. Harris; and cherished son, Rodney M. Harris, Jr. (R.J.). Also left behind is her mother, Dorothy Scholl, and siblings, Cyndee Rowlings (Calif.), Diane Woodhead (Ohio), Kate Vasallo (S.C.), and John Sapp (Ohio.) - who hold the keys of her history.

She wants her extended family and friends to know how grateful she was for the time they had together, and to not lose faith. It was a hard road she traveled, but your prayers and your kindness made the journey easier. Please continue to reach out to those who need help. You can never do a kindness too soon, for you never know when it will be too late. Even though the cancer prudently attacked her system, Alicia never gave up on God and understood this mission was about others and not about her. Honoring her best would be to take a walk in a park, make angels in the snow and/or bake Christmas cookies.

Homegoing services to celebrate Alicia's life will be on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at the Stewart and Calhoun Chapel. Calling hours will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with funeral immediately following at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Your donation will be split between a college fund set up for her son, R.J. and money that will go to the American Cancer Society for further research. Condolences may be sent to: 2579 Nakea St., Kailua, Hawaii 96734.
