Raymond (Ray) Roberts Darby, Jr., 75, passed away on May 23, 2013 in Granbury, Texas after an extended illness.|
Born May 15, 1938 in Pittsburgh, Pa., Ray was a graduate of Kent State University and a U.S. Navy veteran.
Preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Ardel Darby; and his brother, Kenny; he is survived by his wife, Brenda; sons, Mark (Vanessa) and Michael (Valerie) Darby, and Scott (Aimee) McCollam; daughters, Kelley Darby and Kristin (Karen) McCollam; grandchildren, Alec and Madison Darby, Lee Burgess, Taylor and Jesse Blankenship, Marlie and Marin McCollam; brothers, Ned, Don and Joe Darby; and sister, Margaret Everett.
Before retiring to Granbury, Texas in 1999, Ray was a resident of Silver Lake, Ohio for over 30 years, where he worked for the Campbell Soup Company, the Burger Iron Company and in real estate. His retirement years were spent traveling, playing bridge, golfing and cheering for The Ohio State Buckeyes.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all of the staff in Green Hall at the Arbor House for their devoted care of Ray and the many acts of kindness and love shown to Ray and his family during his time there.
Private services will be held at a later date. Inurnment will take place at the DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
