Eleanor Y. Gibson, a long-time resident of Akron, Ohio, who was currently residing in Columbus, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 14, 2013.|
Eleanor, known by her family and friends as "Bonnie", was born on December 17, 1954 in Manning, S.C. to the late John A. Gibson, Sr. and Ella Mae Gibson. Bonnie was the second oldest of five children. She accepted Christ at a young age. She was a 1973 graduate of Buchtel High School. After high school she attended The Ohio State University. She retired as a case manager from the Summit County Department of Job & Family Services in 2005. As a member of New Home Baptist Church, she was very involved in many ministries. She moved to Columbus in 2008 to be closer to her only child.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. She leaves to cherish her memory, son, Willy (Tiffany) Gibson; grandchildren, Jordan, Tyesha, and Aleah, all of Columbus, Ohio; sisters, Sallie Gibson, of Columbus, Ohio, Tera Gibson, of Akron, Ohio, Karen Gibson, of Houston, Texas; brother, John Gibson, Jr. of Akron, Ohio. She also leaves a host of Family & Friends.
A Homegoing Celebration will be held at Mount Lebanon Baptist Church on Saturday, July 20, 2013. Friends will be received from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. The Celebration will begin at 12 p.m. with Pastor Robert J. Evans officiating. Condolences can be sent to 1836 Passage Lane, Columbus, Ohio 43219
