Leon J. Rinaldo, 94, passed away peacefully August 3, 2013 after a long illness.
Leon was a life-time resident of the Akron-Portage Lakes area. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and was decorated with the Purple Heart. Leon chose a career of civil service as a postal carrier for 30 years at the Kenmore branch. He was dedicated to over 50 years of marriage to Joann. Leon will be remembered for his kind heart and for finding the good in others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Salvatore and Nancy Rinaldo; six beloved siblings; and his step-son, Victor Vallier.
He is survived by his wife, Joann; children, Laura (Bryan) Verdoorn, Veronica (Ervin) Davidson, Dan (Beth) Vallier, Sonja Lee Carnes, Carl R. Simpson; siblings, Grace Wagner, Ann Marie (Buck) Labin, Joe Rinaldo, James (Sue) Rinaldo; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Calling hours 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Ciriello and Carr Funeral Home, 39 S. Miller Rd., Fairlawn 44333, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Entombment at Rose Hill Burial Park Cemetery, where the Garfield Memorial Post 566 will conduct military services. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Crossroads Hospice.
