Eunice Lucille Tucker

Eunice Lucille Tucker, 78, was born, on May 16, 1935 in Akron, Ohio to Mrytis Johnson, left this earthly life to join God in Heaven on August 16, 2013.

She was employed by the Akron Board of Education for over 28 years, retiring in 2005. "Lucille", as she was affectionately known, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, aunt, and friend. Mt Lebanon Baptist Church had been her church home since before the age of 19, when she married her sweetheart, Dorsey R. Tucker Sr. on September 18th, 1954. She catered to, listened, and encouraged her husband, and members of his gospel singing group, The Kings of Harmony. "Grandma Lucy" loved and cherished angels, having over 75 of them in her vast collection. She adored all types of music, writing short stories, poetry, and memoirs. Also, she was a great artist, and worked well with her hands. Her passion with animals led her to always have a Dashund dog, or sometimes, having two or more dogs. She once nursed a baby bird back to health. While she would feed the birds and squirrels daily, she would even give them all personal names. Her passion was gardening and nourishing plants as well as helping people. Everyone she knew or met was taken by her kindness and generosity, and affected by her hilarious humor. "This too shall pass" was her favorite saying.

Lucille was preceded by her loving husband, Dorsey R. Tucker Sr., and by her siblings, Anna, Marie, Jessie, Eula, Clarence, and Arts, a special grandson, Je'Rome M. Tucker, and daughter-in-law, Jeri Tucker. To cherish her memory are sons, Dorsey R. Tucker Jr., Emmitt C. (Marian) Tucker, and Clarence W. Tucker; daughters, Anna Lynn (Cornelius) Miller, and Barbara L. Tucker; grandchildren, Dorsey III, Jeri, Dor Shaun, La Nora, Sasha, Dwayne, Jermaine, Alyssia, Corneisha, Cornelius, Karis, Brittany, Brielle, and Treasure; along with 19 great- grandchildren. She also leaves nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends, Carolyn Jones, Mary Coates, Virginia Armaisida, Corine Ricks, Vonceil Massengill, Betty Long, Willodean Strong, and many others. Her pet dog, Buster will also miss her very much.

Homegoing calling hours will be Friday, August 23, 2013 at 12 p.m., with funeral service starting at 1 p.m. at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, 180 Edwards Ave., Pastor Robert Evans officiating. Interment at Glendale Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to 762 Carlysle St., Akron 44310. Services entrusted to Rhoden.
