Vivian Yvonne Walker, 75, entered eternal rest September 3, 2013.
Vivian was born to Joseph L. Wynn and Pearl Estella Gibbons on May 9, 1938. She united in marriage to Lovell Walker on December 15, 1956 and to this union three children Tamara, Tonoa, and Jocelyn were born. Yvonne as she was affectionately known was a Christian and a member of Prince of Peace Baptist Church. She was a member of the Order of The Eastern Star, Phoenix Chapter #96, as well as the Elks Lodge once serving as Daughter Ruler.
She was employed with St. Thomas Hospital, Central News and lastly working at Dillard's. She was a family person and was always involved with children. Yvonne gave birth to three children, but was a mom to many. She loved to sing and was a lover of fashion, with her hats being the main attraction.
She was preceded in death by her parents. She leaves to mourn her passing husband of 56 years, Lovell; daughters, Tamara, Tona, Jocelyn (Steve) Smith; brother, Charles Wynn; grandchildren, Lovell, Paige (John) Ketchens, Anthony King and Akia Owens; great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Weston; special friend, Shirley Lawler; special son-in-law, Glenn Knight; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at Prince of Peace Baptist Church, 844 Garth Ave., Akron, OH 44320, and Pastor Robert Golson officiating. Interment Greenlawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. until time of service. Procession will form and condolences may be sent to 1200 Hartford Ave., Akron, OH 44320.
