Daniel Isadore Livingston

Daniel Isadore Livingston passed away on August 22, 2013 at his assisted living residence, Brookdale Place of Bath.

Preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Aaron Livingston; sisters, Annette and Frances; and wife of 55 years, Helen Livingston and their son Alan Livingston; surviving family include daughter, Janet L. Merideth; son-in-law, Rick Merideth; grandsons, Austin and Maxwell Merideth; and nieces, Suzi Stoller and Alice Deitch.

Daniel was born in New York City on October 15, 1919. Daniel received his BS in Science from The City College of New York in June 1941. He served in the Army Air Corps from March 15, 1943 until December 11, 1945; attaining the rank of 2nd Lieutenant and earning the American Theater Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal. Daniel continued his education at the Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute where he earned his PhD in 1950. While working for Ford Motor Co., Daniel met his wife Helen. Daniel and Helen moved to Akron where he worked many years as a Physical Chemist at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. While working at Goodyear, he founded and remained editor for Tire Science and Technology periodical. Aside from his dedication to his work and family, Daniel also loved poetry, gardening and travel. Daniel will be remembered by his family as a generous man who cared deeply about them and many others through his philanthropic gifts. Most importantly, he was the "best Dad."

A memorial service will be held on Sept. 21, 2013 at 10 a.m. at 180 S. Rose Blvd., Akron, Ohio.
