Stanley Fish Obituary
Stanley Fish

Stanley Fish, 80, passed away on September 11, 2013.

Stanley was born in Canton, Ohio in 1933 and moved to Akron in 1956.

He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He met the love of his life and bride of 57 years, Janice, in Portland, Oregon while stationed there. He began working for the Crawford Letter and Printing Company as a stock boy in 1956, retiring as its president in 2000. He cherished the relationships he created with his clients, namely B. F. Goodrich, Eddie Elias Enterprises and the PBA, Modern Tire Dealers, the U of A, WHLO, and Rubber and Plastics News.

A graduate of Kent State University, Stanley served in various leadership roles over the years in the Lion's Club, Beth El Men's Club, and the West Akron Baseball League. An avid fan of all sports, he regrettably departs this earth without experiencing a Browns' Super Bowl. He enjoyed antiquing and the many friends he met in the antique world. But, above all else, he enjoyed spending all the time he could get with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Rose, and his sisters, Cora and Shirley. He is survived by his beloved wife, Janice; twin brother, Larry; sons, David and Brian; grandchildren, Jacob, Hannah, Emma, Isaac, and Sophia.

A military burial will be held at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, September 13. Prayers will be offered by Rabbi Stephen Grundfast. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, September 15 (after the Browns game!) at Gordon-Flury Funeral Home, 1260 Collier Road, Akron, Ohio. The family will receive friends at the Eagles Chase Club House, 860 Eagles Chase Drive, Akron, Ohio at the conclusion of the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, 350 Opportunity Pkwy., Akron, OH 44307.
