John H. Elmerick, age 88, of Louisville, passed away unexpectedly on October 12, 2013.
He was born July 5, 1925 in Suffield, Ohio, the son of the late Henry and Doris (Griggy) Elmerick. John proudly served his country as an Army veteran of World War II where he earned the Purple Heart. He retired from Teledyne Monarch Rubber following 44 years of service. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Harrisburg. John was an avid sports fan and cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by three sons, Michael (Ann), Steve (Paula) and Dave, all of Louisville; four sisters, Beatrice Jordan of Akron, Dolores Pastore of Arizona, Ruth Horning of North Canton and Agnes Taylor of Texas; two brothers, Sylvan and Francis Elmerick, both of North Canton; seven grandchildren, Keely, Megan, Ian, Angie, Karlee, Jim and Joe; and four great-grandchildren, Zoey, Riley, Emily and Karter.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Mary (Beutler) who passed away in 1998; son, John; sister, Lucille Schaffer; and brother, Robert.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Harrisburg, with Rev. Fr. Nicholas Mancini officiating. Interment will follow at the Parish Cemetery. John's family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home in Louisville. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
