Nick Zateslo

Nick Zateslo, 95, died Feb. 17, 2006.

Nick was born in Youngstown, Ohio in 1911 as one of seven children. He has proudly called Akron his home for over 90 years.

A U.S. Army veteran, he was in the First Battalion 28th Infantry that served in Rhineland and Central Europe and received the Combat Infantry Badge and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a 60-year member of American Legion Post 19. Nick was a graduate of West High School; loved to pitch horseshoes, watched all sports and was an avid Ohio State University fan. He started in the Grocery business at T&N in 1945 and his other stores included the Five Points, Highland Square and Valley Star Markets.

Nick is survived by wife of 59 years, Mildred; son, Tom Zateslo; daughter, Karen Z. (J. Douglas) Gray; grandchildren, John D. and Alexandra N. Gray; sister, Millie Zateslo; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Tuesday from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. with Dr. Donard M. Engle officiating.
