Karen Krasnoff Sandel

Karen Krasnoff Sandel passed away October 28, 2013 after a short illness.

She was born in Warren, Ohio to Louis and Gertrude Krasnoff. Karen attended The Ohio State University where she earned both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Math Education. She taught programming part time at The University of Akron before joining Ohio Edison. She then spent 19 years at The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company as a technical analyst and instructor. While there, she earned her Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

Karen was a proud member of Beth El Congregation, where for many years she served as the treasurer of the Beth El Gift Shop. She also belonged to many other Jewish organizations in the community. She had many hobbies, especially tending to her yard and flowers, reading, knitting and needlepoint with over 90 framed pieces displayed in her home. She also had an extensive doll collection which she treasured.

Karen's passion was her family and friends. She is survived by her brother, Michael (Judy) Krasnoff; son, Kevin (Lori) Sandel; son, Todd Sandel; and her four amazing grandchildren, Bailey, Colton, Kaya and Jack. Her cousins and many friends were a very important part of her life.

Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at the Gordon Flury Funeral Home, 1260 Collier Road, Akron, OH 44320. Interment will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the Beth Israel Cemetery, Hewitt-Gifford Road SW, Lordstown, OH 44481. Shiva will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2013 and Sunday, November 3, 2013 at the home of Kevin and Lori Sandel, 753 Kensington Way, Copley, OH 44321. Memorials may be sent to Stewart's Caring Place or Beth El Congregation.
