TALLMADGE -- Mathias Habel, 84, passed away October 28, 2013.
Born in Niza, Yugoslavia (Croatia) Matt immigrated to the USA in 1952. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and retired in 1996 from Triple S. Machine. Matt was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church and an active member of the German Family Society.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and two brothers. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Katharina; his children, Richard (Beckie) Habel of Green, Robert (Kristen) Habel of Cuyahoga Falls, and Janet Todd of Chester Springs, Pennsylvania. He was a fun loving grandfather to, Jennifer, Danielle, Lindsey, Gabrielle, Michelle, Brianna, Nolan, James, Jason, Aaron, and Lauren; and great-grand-children, Ellie and Payton.
Matt's joyful and positive spirit will forever be a model for his family to embrace and strive toward. He will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the staff at Summa Health Systems for their special care.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Our Lady of Victory Church, 73 North Ave., Tallmadge with Rev. Michael A. Matusz officiating. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 until 8 p.m. Friday, November 1, 2013 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave., (On the Historic Tallmadge Circle).
