Shermane Diane Potter|
Shermane Diane Potter was born on October 23, 1947 in Sandusky, Ohio to Henry Sherman and Freda Frances Potter (nee Orr). She departed this life unexpectedly on Friday, December 6, 2013 at her home in Wadsworth, Ohio.
Shermane was a 1965 graduate of Sandusky High School. She left Sandusky in 1969 to attend business school in Columbus, Ohio. While in Columbus, Shermane began working for the U.S. Postal Service in Human Resources. She later worked in the Toledo Post Office and the Akron Post Office where she retired in 2007. Shermane was an active member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Seville, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Freda Potter; a brother, Thomas in 2000; and ex-husband, Charles Francis.
Shermane leaves to cherish her memory, Ebbie, her black lab and several nieces and nephews to whom she was affectionately known as Aunt Poopy. She is also survived by two brothers, Fred of Las Vegas, Joseph of Lorain; three sisters, Cheri Alexander of Windsor Connecticut, Valerie Edwards of Columbus, Jeanine and brother-in-law Larry Donaldson of Lorain; and maternal aunt, Clarissa Lewis (nee Orr) of Columbus. She was also a dear cousin to the Orr, Shepherd and Lewis families.
Shermane's congregation will conduct a memorial service on Saturday, December 21st at 2 p.m. at the Jehovah's Witness Hall in Seville, Ohio. Her cremated remains will be interred at Oakland Cemetery in Sandusky, Ohio. The family will host a celebration of her life in the Spring.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Elyria YWCA for the Women's Homeless Shelter, 318 West Ave., Elyria, OH 44035. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cox Funeral Home, 222 Norton Avenue, Barberton, Ohio.
