Burl V. Riggs|
Burl V. Riggs, 81, went home to be with the Lord on January 9, 2014.
He was born April 7, 1932 in Joker, West Virginia to Loxy and Roxy Riggs. He worked with Local 18, as a pipeliner at Ohio Operating Engineers. He faithfully served as a Staff Sergeant for the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Burl coached Pee Wee Baseball for the Cottage Grove Indians. He retired from Bernard Pipeline and Maintenance Unlimited and attended the Victory Chapel in Akron. Burl enjoyed woodworking, mechanical work, deer hunting, fishing, working on cars with his grandson and was known as an all around "Mr. Fix It".
Burl is survived by his wife of 57 years, Charlotte; son, Gregory; grandson, Danny (Laura); family member, Donna Riggs Arbogast and Family; and special nephew, Larry Wix.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Husain, the 4 South Nurses Station at Barberton Community Hospital and the staff at Hospice of Summa for the love and support that they showed Burl.
Friends may call at Bacher Funeral Home, 3326 Manchester Rd. on Saturday, January 11, 2014 from 12 to 1 p.m., where services will be held at 1 p.m., with Rev. Mike LaMar officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Military honors will be rendered by Firestone Post #3383 in honor of Burl.
