Gid Jackson Jr., 59, passed away suddenly at his home on Thursday, April 3, 2014.
Gid was born September 21, 1956. He was a lifelong resident of Akron, Ohio. Gid attended Akron Public Schools and graduated from Central-Hower High School in 1974. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy. He was employed for many years at The University of Akron and Atlantis Security Services.
Gid was preceded in death by his parents, Gid Sr. and Laura Jackson; daughter, DeSheka D. Greer; and brothers, Ricky A. Scott and Frank L. Jackson. He leaves to cherish his memory, sons, Jason Carswell (Akron, Ohio) and Gid Freeman (Troy, N.Y.); stepchildren, Adrianne "Seeky" and Marlon Brewer (Canton, Ohio); sisters, Mary A. Lockhart, Delores Jackson, Betty J. Folk and Frances K. Jackson; brothers, Detherow (Sandra) Jackson, Ernest Jackson and Christopher (Charice ) Jackson, all of Akron; uncle, Frank L. Miller Jr.; aunts, Mary Alice Jones (Akron, Ohio) and Veonna Monroe (Anniston, Ala.); four grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren; special cousins, Nadine L. Bagley and Gloria Helen Ware; close friends, Cynthia Conley, Kimberly Paynther, Felicia Cash; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Rhoden Memorial Funeral Home, 1101 Palmetto Ave., Pastor Renea Collins eulogizing. Calling hours will begin at 12 p.m. until time of service. Procession will form and condolences may be sent to 829 Crouse St., 44306.
