Bruce A. Graening Obituary
Bruce Graening

Bruce A. Graening, 67, passed away peacefully into the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ on July 15, 2014.

He was a lifetime resident of Akron, Ohio and attended Kenmore High School. Bruce was a former POW from the Vietnam War and was the second known person to escape captivity in Vietnam, receiving the Bronze Star for combat bravery and various other honors. Bruce worked at Brecksville VA Hospital, retired after 14 years of service and spent much of his time recording music for local singers, family, friends and at church. Bruce had a great ear for sound and a great eye for pictures and video. He captured many wonderfu moments of the people he loved and cared for.

Bruce was a member of Akron Bible Church and a faithful volunteer at the Hope Cafe. He could always be found there making great coffee and sharing God's love with all.

Bruce was preceded in death by father, Robert Graening; mother, Fern Martin; and wife, Judy Tenney. Bruce is survived by daughter, Tammy Wolfe; granddaughter, Krystal Kish; grandson, David Wolfe; and great-grandson, Ayden Duncan. Also cousins, Jim, Bill and Mike Graening; Aunt Margo Graening and her late husband Lester Graening and former spouse and lifelong friend Polly Graening.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 3 p.m. with a memorial service following at 3 p.m., on Monday, July 21, 2014 at The Sanctuary Church, 1624 Northmoreland Blvd., Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, with Pastor Jim Dockery officiating. Family and friends are welcome after service to join in the celebration of Bruce's life.
