James H. Boettler

We celebrate James' life who passed peacefully on July 17, 2014.

He was born on August 18, 1928 in Canton, Ohio to the late Christian Glenn and Harriet Boettler and remained a lifelong member of the North Canton community. Jim graduated from North Canton High School in 1946 and Kent State University where he earned a degree in Chemical Engineering. He served in the U.S. Navy both active duty and in the reserves for 21 years becoming a Lieutenant Commander. He then spent his career at Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. earning the title of Senior Tire Engineer and developed two patents while he was there. Jim was a member of the North Canton Jaycee's helping develop Price Park and the North Canton Lions Club, having been the Past President of both organizations. He was also a member of the Akron Rubber Group and the Plain Grange.

Preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Eugene "Jeep" Boettler. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty of 52 years; daughter, Beth (Sam) Shaheen; older brother, Charles (Darlene) Boettler; sister-in-law, Marilyn; grandchildren, Christian and Emma; nieces and nephews, Connie (Helmar), Michael (Claire), David, Sue, Jennifer and Holly (Burke); and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family will be having a private ceremony, per Jim's wishes. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lions Club of North Canton, 718 Wendy Circle NE, North Canton, Ohio 44720 or Zion Lutheran Church, 349 Lindy Lane, North Canton, Ohio 44720.
