James Navratil Obituary

James Charles Navratil

James Charles Navratil, age 86, of Westfield Center, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2015 in Lodi.

Jim was born November 15, 1928 in Medina, Ohio to the late James and Eva (Gedion) Navratil. He was a self-employed realtor and land developer. His developments were characterized by evergreens and split rail fence, earning him the nickname "Jimmy Evergreen" in Medina County.

Jim loved to golf; he grew up caddying at Bunker Hill Golf Course and later was a member of the Westfield Country Club. He was the past president of the Medina County Board of Realtors, a 50 year board member of the Muskingum Watershed District, and an active member of Leroy Methodist Church.

Jim is survived by his wife, Hildy (Hoffmann), to whom he was married 53 years; daughter, Christine Deeter; son, Craig James (Paige E.) Navratil; grandchildren, Jonathan and MacKenzie Deeter and Julia and Alexander Navratil.

He was a deeply devoted father and husband, enjoying dinners with Hildy, his grandchildren's sporting events, and his beloved dog Behr.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, George, John, and Edward Navratil; sisters, Irene Selig, Evelyn Strouse, Mildred Eck, Helen Eckert and Marie Kiefer.

Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 31, at Leroy United Methodist Church, 7 Park Circle, Westfield Center, OH 44251. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Medina. Family will receive friends Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina, OH 44256. Online condolences may be left at waitefuneralhome.com.

Deepest sympathies to the Navratil family. I worked with Jim for many years as a developer. He was a pioneer in Ohio for the first all geothermal subdivision. He was a great mentor to me. So saddened to hear of his passing.

Jim and Hildy were a significant influence during my early years in collage and as I started my career. I greatly loved them and appreciate their investment in me over the years. I excited that he will be bringing organization to mansion row in heaven and I can't wait to get there and see my split rail fence in front of my mansion. My family and I love you all very much!

Thankful to have known such a wonderful man. He likely never would have assumed that I learned so much from he and Mrs. Navratil, yet what I took in from my relationship with them will stay with me for my lifetime. . . until we are with all of our other brothers and sisters together on the other side of the Jordan together. Love you both so much. So grateful for you both.

My thoughts and prayers are with each of you at this sad time. I recall Holmesbrook doing business with Jim for years. I am certain I speak for all at the Brook in sending our love and prayers. Such a vibrant person will leave a void none could replace. In Jesus Love,
