Michael Louis Heavrin

Michael Louis Heavrin, 59, of Akron, died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003 at his home.

Born in Akron on July 23, 1943, he is the son of the late George A. and Agnes (Schaaf) Heavrin. He was a graduate of Central High School, an honorably discharged Vietnam Navy veteran and recently retired from General Motors with 31 years of service. Michael was a lifelong member of Annunciation Catholic Church and member of many organizations, including the Eagles and American Legion. He pos sessed an extremely agile mind, with interests that included being a certified scuba diver, photography, art and art history, Native American culture and art. He was a talented and creative welder and artist. Michael also found great enjoyment in his time as a volunteer at Akron City Hospital.

He is survived by his brothers, Ralph (Sue Gates-Heavrin) Heavrin of Akron, and Gregory Heavrin of Murray, Ky.; nephew, Dennis (Michelle) Heavrin; nieces, Carrie (Pastor Timothy) McCollum and Megan-Elizabeth Heavrin; great- nephew, Aeon Kirk McCollum; great-niece, Kallie Grace Heavrin; and former spouses and dear friends, Elaine Pratt and Linda Heavrin. He will be greatly missed by his cat, Nutmeg (Meggie).

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at 10 a.m., at Annunciation Catholic Church in Akron. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hummel Funeral Home, 500 E. Exchange St., on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Annunciation-St John's School Fund.
