John HOPMANS Obituary

HOPMANS, John "Dutch": 72. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of John "Dutch" Hopmans of Okanagan Falls, B.C. on March 22, 2018. Dutch was born in Nymegen Holland on Oct. 19, 1945 and immigrated to Canada in 1968 where he happily spent the next 50 years working as a contractor, draftsman, woodworker and a helping hand to everyone. He leaves behind his beloved siblings, their spouses and families. His loving daughter Joyce Schwab, husband Gerry and two grandsons, his son Al Hopmans, wife Janet and two granddaughters. His beloved wife of 20 years Colleen Clark and their extended family Shawn, Russell, Shannon, Klint, their spouses and families. It takes a minute to find that special friend, an hour to appreciate them, and a day to love them, but it will take a lifetime to forget them. Dutch will be dearly missed by his numerous friends in both Holland and Canada. How lucky we are to have known someone who is so hard to say goodbye to. A celebration of life for this amazing man will be held on May 6, 2018 at the Okanagan Fall's Royal Canadian Legion at 1pm.

With great sadness I have taken notice of my Canadian friend John Hopmans, I met him once, that was on June 19, 2005 in his birthplace Groesbeek. We had an interview with a local newspaper there. I got to know John via the e-mail in 2004. We then had a lot of contact with each other and as a reminder that he came to the Netherlands I made a website for him. You can see this on http://geschiedenisgroesbeek.nl/jonhhopmans-eng.htm

My good friend now rests forever in Peace. On behalf of myself I wish his wife Coleen and his family much strength in the loss of this beloved man.

We in the village of Groesbeek, near Nijmegen in the Netherlands, are very sad and shocked, after we heard about the sudden passing of our friend Jan, John (Dutch) Hopmans. One day before I was still mailing with my dear friend. That he may rest in peace (R.I.P.). And we send his whole family much strength. All his Groesbeek friends from the passed.
