HorneMay 14, 1926 - Nov. 8, 2012 OKLAHOMA CITY Odessa Mary (Harris) Horne, 86, entered into the arms of Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior, on Nov. 8, 2012. She was the daughter of Rev. Charles and Ona Phipps. She dedicated her life to loving her family and serving the Lord. Among her many joys in life were gardening, traveling to the Great Smoky Mountains, visiting relatives in Alabama, and searching for new recipes in her numerous cookbooks. She dearly loved to have all her family together, cooking for them, having lots of fun and laughing while playing Dirty Santa at Christmas time. She faithfully attended River of Life Church, formerly Muse Memorial Church for 33 years, where she loved to worship the Lord with her church family. Odessa and Ed, her second husband, were avid daily Mall walkers where they met many friends and wonderful people. She is survived by her children Don Harris of OKC, Marvin Harris of Vian, OK, Sue Harshaw and husband Steve of Walters, OK, Garry Harris and wife Neta of Edmond, OK, Billy Harris and wife Lori of Mustang, OK, Jacque Alexander and husband Tom of Tulsa, OK; grandchildren Tina Harris, Joseph Harris, Christopher Harris, Michael Harshaw, Jeffrey Harshaw, Matthew Harshaw, Erica Harris, Jeff Johnson, Byron Harris, Darryl Harris, Kai Hall; and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband Elisha Joseph (Jack) Harris. Others who preceded her in death were Ina Hedrick, sister, and husband Merrill, Harold Phipps, brother, Albert Phipps, brother, Vernon Phipps, brother and wife Wanda, Hubert Phipps, brother, and wife Virginia, Berlene Breshears, sister, and her husband Jim, and Beatrice Phipps, sister. Our family was blessed for 86 years with a "Wonderful Mother" who taught us to love the Lord, each other, and those around us. She was our greatest source of strength and encouragement. Viewing will be 4-8 PM today at the funeral home with family greeting friends from 6-8 PM. Services to celebrate Odessa's life will be 10:00 AM Sat. Nov. 17, 2012 at the River of Life Church, 6901 NW 150th St., OKC, with burial to follow at Sunny Lane Cemetery.
