Memories and Condolences
for DONALD GARRIGAN

Not sure what to say?

I just this week learned of Don's passing. I was so sorry to hear that Don was gone, as he was a special guy and a good friend of mine for many years. I first met Don and Babe while working at Wilson in 1973. He was indeed a special person and will be missed by all that knew him. My heart goes out to his family, and also to Sharon. Rest in peace Don.

The photo is Don just as I remember him. He was four years older but I remember him as funny, with a great smile.

Dear Peter, Darsi and your families. I am one of your father's East coast cousins from Arlington, Virginia. My mother, Mary G. Arntson was David C. Garrigan's youngest sister. My brother, Steve, and I spent several vacations during the late 40s and early 50s visiting in Galva and enjoyed staying with Dave and Evelyn at the old Garrigan farm north of Galva as well at there farm near Lake Calhoun and their home in Galva. Don took us under his wing and made the visits memorable. We rode on the tractor with him, herded the cattle, picked up the bales of hay in the fields and loaded into the hay loft it was really hard hot work but with Don we thought we were having fun. Then we would go back to the house for one of those huge farm lunches to get ready for the afternoon's work. Don really made it fun. We have special memos of your father and know that he will be greatly missed.

Dear Doug, Darci and families. You will have no idea who we are, but I remember you so very well from years past. I first met Don my freshman year at the University of Illinois. We both lived at AGR, an agriculture fraternity. He was a senior when I was a freshman. That was the beginning of a wonderful relationship. I worked for Don as a student employee at the U of I Meats Lab for 4 years, and then, after Elaine and I were married, we stayed, and I worked for him another two years. We spent a great deal of time with Don and Babe and you two "kids" when you lived on Green Street...........these were wonderful years. To give you a time frame, this was from Aug. 1957 until January of 1963......a long time ago. Anyway, we're so sorry and I'm sure you will miss his presence very much....he and Babe were wonderful friends. I would love to talk to one of you but know this isn' likely. So, we miss him too, even though it's been so very long....makes me wonder where the time has gone.
May God Bless and keep you all.

Don Garrigan, my other Dad, my family, and my friend. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to posess this dual support system for as long as I can even recall! Countless wonderful memories that span decades will follow me and I will cherish them always. I can only hope to touch others lives so richly as he did mine. Rest in Peace, until we meet again.
