Ruth Stubblefield Obituary

Ruth Ellen Maritt Stubblefield, 87, passed from this life to her reward in heaven on April 8, 2010. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. First and always she was a shining example of Christ's love in all that she did. She was a member of Kentucky Avenue Baptist Church for many years and in later years became a member at Highland Park Baptist Church in Edmond. She was only able to get a 10th grade education, and at 55 she went to Grant High School with her friend, Minnie Reynolds, and they got their GED's together. Then Ruth went on to get her Certified Nursing Assistant and worked in that profession until her health began to fail. She was faithfully cared for by the loving staff at Grace Living Center in Edmond for the last 31/2 yrs. of her life. For the last 2 yrs. and 3 months, she was under the loving care of Good Shepherd Hospice, and we want to especially thank her loving nurse, Debbie Redden, for her special care of our Mom. She was preceded in death by her husband, Owen; daughter, Gaylene; and daughter-in-law, Dianna Smith Stubblefield. She is survived by her son, Owen Jr. & wife, Sue; daughter, Barbara & husband, Tim; nephew, Billy Maritt & wife, Marilyn; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, including Sgt. Brock R. Neely, Afghanistan; 3 sisters-in-law; 3 brothers-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. Viewing will be Sunday from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm, with the family to receive guests from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Services will be Monday, April 12, 2010, at 2:00 pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel, with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery.

To all of our friends and family. Thank you for all of your prayers, thoughts, food and gifts you presented on behalf of our Mother. Thanks, also, to Pastor Roy for your salvation message. I sincerely hope that if there is anyone who does not know the only way to heaven, they will get someone to show them in the Bible how they can be sure they will go to heaven (by accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior) when they die. Please do not wait until it is too late. You never know when your last breath will come.

Family,

I remember Ruth with that great smile, and sweet, thoughtful ways. I am sorry I could not be there for you, but I did not know until Sunday night. Barb, seems like yesterday the folks would all be together having a great time and on to their next adventure. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you. Love & Prayers, Sharron Reynolds
