CARL KENDRICK

Oct 2, 1922 - Dec 27, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY Carl B. Kendrick went to be with the Lord, December 27, 2013, from his residence in Oklahoma City. Carl was born October 2, 1922, in Haynesville, LA. He graduated from Haynesville High School and Louisiana Tech University. He married his true love Hazel Shaw, of Ruston, LA, and was happily married for nearly 70 years. As an active member of Quail Springs Baptist Church, he served on several committees. Serving as class treasurer, he was a member of the "Joy" Bible Study Class, which adopted many of the Grace Rescue Mission needs. He was an ordained Deacon and an active Gideon. He was a Life Member of the Volunteer Auxiliary at Integris Baptist Medical Center. He served in WWII in the Army Air Corps. He spent his entire career in the energy industry (oil, gas and coal) in Louisiana, Mississippi, Kentucky, Colorado and Oklahoma. He was an avid roller skater and won many regional rewards. He was a young boy when his mother, Lelah Hardaway, died. His father, Carl Kendrick, Sr.; his second mother, Ruth Greer Kendrick; his wife, Hazel Shaw Kendrick; brother, Jamie Kendrick; sisters, Elsie Tereskerz, Burma Fincher, and Virginia Riley; preceded him in death. He is survived by his son, Rock Kendrick, wife Susan, and their children, Keitha Kendrick Wagner and her children, Mayson, Micah, and Emma; Barret Kendrick, his wife Tracy and their sons, Larsen and Shaw; all of Covington, LA; Rocky Kendrick and wife Casey, of Bay St. Louis, MS; son, Bob Kendrick, his wife Gloria, of Oklahoma City, their daughter, Michelle Nance, her husband Brian and children, Madeline, Tobie, and Cooper, of Edmond, OK; his sister, Rosemary Fry, of Knoxville, TN; and special friend, Jean Stephens. Carl will be remembered for his love of Jesus Christ, his family, and for our great country and all those that serve and have served. The family wishes to express their gratitude to his caregivers, Vivian Davis, Ella Church, Sarah Evans, and Barbara Hayat, and to Valir Hospice. Visitation will be Monday evening, December 30, 2013, 6-8 p.m. at Smith & Kernke at 14624 N. May Ave., Oklahoma City. The service celebrating his life will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2013, 10 a.m. at Quail Springs Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to be made to the Grace Rescue Mission; or Gideon International, P.O. Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214-0800.
