July 21, 1924 - February 17, 2013 MIDWEST CITY Colleen Palmer-Austin was born July 21, 1924 at her family home near Quapaw, OK. She grew up in Miami, OK with 2 sisters, Irvina and Laura. After her marriage to Harold (Nip) Newlon, she spent most of her life in Midwest City. Where she was active in the LDS church, volunteered at the Midwest City Hospital for 15 years and was past President of Mid-Del Republican Women Club and State President of ORWC. She retired from Farmers Home Administration and Oklahoma State Health Department. We wish a special thanks to Dr. Clinton Winslow and Senior Care Aids - Linda and Myrtle for their time and care of Colleen. Preceded in death by her parents and sister, Irvina McKibben and late husbands, Harold Newlon and Moody Palmer. Survived by husband, Chuck Austin; son, James R. Newlon; daughter, Nanci Bradford; 5 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Laura Downum; 2 nieces and 2 nephews. Services for Colleen will be held at 10am, Friday, February 22, 2013, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Midwest City, OK, with burial to follow at Kolb Cemetery, Spencer, OK.
