MayesNov 9, 1939 - Nov 2, 2012 EDMOND Cora Sue "Corky" Mayes, 72, of Edmond, Oklahoma, formerly of Perry, Oklahoma, was the daughter of George and Helen LaRue (Vannostran) Chitwood. She was born November 9, 1939, in Cushing, Oklahoma, and died Friday, November 2, 2012, at Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.Corky married her best friend and sweetheart, Byron Lee Mayes, on January 3, 1960, in Perry, Oklahoma, at the First Baptist Church.She was an administrative assistant for the President & CEO of OPUBCO for ten years. Corky also worked for the First National Bank of Perry off and on for over 20 years. She worked as a legal assistant in Oklahoma City for about seven years. Corky loved to work and enjoyed the diversity of each of her different jobs. Her favorite hobby was reading, but more than getting lost in a good book, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, friends, and family. She was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church in Edmond, Oklahoma. Corky was also involved in the Gideon's Auxiliary.Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2012, at Brown-Dugger Funeral Home Chapel in Perry, Oklahoma. Rev. Paul Blair will officiate. Interment will be in Grace Hill Cemetery, Perry, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home in Perry, Oklahoma.Family will receive friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at Brown-Dugger Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Gideon's or Fairview Baptist Church, in care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, 1010 N 7th, Perry, OK 73077.Corky is survived by her husband, Byron, of the home; two daughters: Pamela Sue Zumwalt and her fiance, Mike Haggerty, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and Dina Anderson and her husband, Scott, of Owasso, Oklahoma; three grandchildren: Zachary Zumwalt, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Kaylen Anderson and Kristen Anderson, both of Owasso, Oklahoma; and two great-grandchildren, Devon Zumwalt and Bailey Zumwalt, both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Helen Chitwood; and one sister, Judie Chitwood.Online condolences may be sent to the family using the online guest book at www.brown-duggerfuneralhome.com www.brown-duggerfuneralhome.com
