DAVID LINDSEY

Nov. 9, 1938 - Sep. 30, 2013 NORMAN David Lindsey, 74, a longtime resident of Norman, went to be with his Lord September 30, 2013. David was born November 9, 1938 in Oklahoma City to Barney and Artie (Scott) Lindsey. He lived on the family farm until 1945 when he moved to Highlandville, Missouri. After graduation he lived a short time in Kansas before returning to Missouri where he and his nephew, and lifetime friend Kenny Magerus of Midwest City, together joined the Army. He served from 1963-1966 including a tour in Korea. Returning to Oklahoma City in 1967 he went to work at the FAA retiring as Motor Maintenance Supervisor after 30 years. He loved helping others, doing volunteer work including cooking for Food for Friends, and was active in his church where he served on the parish council and was always willing to serve as needed. He especially enjoyed participating in the yearly Chili cook off. Survivors include his wife Gail Lindsey; son David and wife Angela DeWitt of Oklahoma City; daughters Tawnya and husband Keith Hopcus of Dallas, Mikell and husband Andrew Thompson of Beaver, PA; sisters Betty Ware of Carl Junction, Missouri, and Alice Bradshaw of Huntington, West Virginia; brother Don Bilyeu of Ozark, Missouri; grandchildren Chilton, Seth, Kandon, Allison Mai, Kolton, Katelyn, Andy Ruthann, John, David, and Joseph; as well as a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He loved God, his church, family, friends, country and especially being a grandpa. He spent endless hours playing and entertaining his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by countless loved ones and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Barney and Artie Lindsey, brother Jim Lindsey; sisters Barbara Magerus, and Rebecca Ferencich. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, October 7, 2013, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 100 Stinson St., Norman, Oklahoma.
