David Bales, 84, was born, the first of nine children, on (Good Friday) March 29, 1929, to Edgar David Connelly Bales and Celia McBride Bales in Muskogee, OK. He passed away on June 9, 2013, in Oklahoma City. As a young man, he started working before the age of 14 and worked until he was 79. On July 7, 1950, he married Norma Jean Eddings. This union would be blessed with five children. He loved his family and friends and considered them to be his greatest treasure. At the age of 22, he entered the U.S. Army
, where he served until 1956. David was the owner of Southside Mobile Homes, where he employed many of the neighborhood kids, family, and friends. David was a Golden Glove Boxer, loved history and was a voracious reader. He read the newspaper daily to keep up on current events. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Freddy Bales; two sisters, Gloria Dean Smith and Wanda Gunter; and two brothers, Frankie and Charles Bales. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Norma Jean; three daughters, Jeanie Lehman and husband Billy, Charlotte Bales, and Sharon Bales; one son, Jimmy Bales; and four brothers, Freddy, J.W., Earl and Don Bales. He is also survived by five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one on the way; also dear and special friends, Carl & Irene Yeary; and a host of loving family members and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation. The family would also like to thank Integris Baptist Hospital and Integris Hospice Nurses and Doctors who showed such compassion and kindness toward David and his Family. May God Bless You All! Services to celebrate his life will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 14 at Buchanan Funeral Service Chapel, with an inurnment at 2 p.m. Friday, June 14 at Fort Sill National Cemetery.
