McKaneJuly 29, 1920 - Jan 19, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY
Edmund Randolph McKane was called to Heaven on January 19, 2013, to be reunited with his wife, Mary Jean, and his daughter, Kristen. Ran was born on July 29, 1920, in Oklahoma City to Paul F. and Helen McKane. Ran and Jean were married on July 1, 1943. Eight children graced their happy life together. They lived in Oklahoma City, Dallas, Hot Springs, Kingsland, San Antonio and Dayton. His children, Randy, Mike, Vicki, Dinah, Carol, Todd and Julie, will miss him deeply, along with his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and sisters, Beverly and Shirley. Ran took wings and lived his dream of flying. In the Army Air Corps and in partnership with Pan American Airways, Ran was instrumental to the success of the North Africa campaign in World War II. Following the war, Ran and Mary Jean landed in Dallas, where he began his flying career with Braniff International Airways. He worked his way up to Senior Captain. Captain McKane sat in the captain's seat for the first commercial 747 flight ever made. It was clear to everyone who the Captain was on that famous flight of "Big Orange" from Dallas to Honolulu by locating the biggest, widest, proudest smile on the face of Captain Ran McKane. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 25, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
