JACKIE CARDENAS

Dec 14, 1941 - April 13, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY Jackie, 71, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, April 13, 2013, and went to be with our Lord. "I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep, for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety" — Psalms 4:8. "I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears" — Psalms 34:4. Jackie was born in Carthage, TX to Jack and Rachel (Davis) Wilkerson. She and her sister, Nancy, were raised in the Carthage/ Deadwood area. Jackie graduated from Carthage High School. Jackie was a proud mother and loved her family very much. She had many hobbies throughout her life. She had been a hairdresser, a cake decorator, an artist, and a very skilled seamstress, making many treasured quilts for her family and friends. She had an amazing green thumb and could grow anything. While living in Texas, she and her husband, Vic, had a large garden and grew many types of plants and vegetables. She was employed at General Motors 1979-1998 and always worked very hard to support her family, never missing a day of work. After her retirement, Jackie was able to spend a lot of time with her family and doing the things she loved most. Jackie was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Jackie was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Vic Cardenas; daughters, Carol Davis & her fiance Drew Jackson, and Teri Davis; son, James Davis; stepsons, Diego, David, Vic, and Danny Cardenas and his wife Celia; stepdaughter, Dorothy Wright & husband Joe; son, Kyle Kilpatrick; 16 grandchildren; sister, Nancy Scott; and many other countless family and friends. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her. Her smile and the sound of her laughter will never be forgotten. "Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the Lord shall be thy reward" — Psalms 58:8. There will be no viewing or visitation. A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Vondel Smith Mortuary South Lakes Chapel.
