JAMES PARKER

Jan. 8, 1931 - Mar. 26, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY James was born in Lake City, Craighead County, Ark-ansas on January 8, 1931 to James Albert and Julia Ann Parker. He married Nobuko Ishigo in Tokyo, Japan on March 25, 1955. He attended Dixie Consolidated High School in Lake City, Arkansas and graduated as a Salutatorian. He earned three Associate's degrees from Oklahoma City Community College in Business, Banking & Finance and Mid Management. He joined the US Air Force in Sept. 1950 and retired as a Chief Master Sergeant after 30 years of service. He is a Vietnam Veteran. During his 30 years of service he was assigned to 13 different bases, including overseas tours to Vietnam, Thailand, and twice to Japan. He received numerous awards and ribbons including the Bronze Star Medal.After retiring from the military he worked at Friendly National Bank in Oklahoma City, OK for over ten years. He served as a Boy Scout Committee Chairman, was acknowledged as an "Honorary" Girl Scout Leader, served as an Election Precinct Official, and an AARP Tax Counselor for many years. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and a granddaughter. He is survived by his wife Nobuko, son Larry and wife Stacey, daughter Julia and husband Harry, along with 10 grand-children and 6 great grand-children. He is also survived by a brother and a sister. Services will be held Saturday, March 30, 2013, at 10:00AM in the Chapel of Resthaven Funeral Home.
