KATHLEEN SHAW

Oct 20, 1955 - Jan 10, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY Kathleen S. Shaw, age 57, died peacefully on January 10 after a valiant battle with multiple illnesses. She was born October 20, 1955, to Eugene Burris and Gloria (Dixon) Burris in Oklahoma City. Kathy graduated from Putnam City West HS in 1973 and in her early 20's, received her calling from God to go into nursing. She worked in labor and delivery at Presbyterian and Baptist hospitals and became head nurse at both hospitals. In 1990, after the birth of her second child, she worked in ASU until she selflessly put her career aside to take care of her family. She was preceded in death by her mother, Gloria; her father, Eugene; and her brother, Dale Burris. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Lynn; and two adoring sons, Michael Patrick and Matthew Phillip; her brother-in-law, Rodney Babb; sister-in-law, Kimberly Babb; two nieces, Kassandra Babb and Sarah Babb; mother-in-law, Beverly Shaw; nephew, Titian Burris; nieces, Heather Coleman, Vanessa Cubbler and Natasha Young; and a host of friends. Kathy truly loved life, and the people she met along the way became a part of her extended family. She never met a stranger and loved playing cards and board games with friends and family. One of her favorite pastimes was gardening and working in the yard with her beloved dog, Jenny. She had a love for all animals and had numerous dogs, cats and even horses in her lifetime. She treated everyone she met with love, respect and a smile. She touched many lives and will be truly missed by all. A memorial service to celebrate Kathy's life will be held on Tuesday, January 15 at 2 p.m. at Vondel L. Smith & Son Funeral Home, 13125 North MacArthur Blvd. in Oklahoma City.
