Sept. 12, 1928 - Nov. 5, 2012 CASHION He was the beloved husband of Sue Chase Matheny, and the father of one daughter, Rachel Matheny Patterson married to Zera of Muldrow, OK, and four sons, Joseph married to Sharon of Lexington, OK, Stephan married to Janie of Ozwakie, KS, Dan of Boise, Idaho, and David of Fort Smith, AR. He had numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were a delight to him, three sisters, Maxine Jenkins of Williamston, NC, Peggy Savignol and Jeanette Mathis of Denham Springs, LA, and one surviving brother, Bob C. Matheny of Shreveport, LA. He was preceded in death by his mother and father and 5 brothers. He will be cremated and remembered in private by his family.He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a preacher, an award winning salesman for Rochester Midland, a car dealer, and co-owner of "Matheny Floor Care". He enjoyed a long retirement, communing with nature and tending his garden. During the last years of his life he entertained in retirement centers and nursing homes. He was a song writer, an inspirational writer, and poet, tapping eternal mysteries and making them plain to others. He loved to make people laugh and he always had a kind and encouraging word for everyone he met. He was a great light, a true giver of joy in this earthly life, and will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
