May 2, 1921 - February 19, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY Emma May "Mickey" Gross was born May 2, 1921, in Ryan, Iowa, and was the daughter of Leo and Minnie (Zumbach) Witt. After living courageously with cancer for five years, she went home to the Lord at the age of 91 on February 19, 2013, in her home with family at her side. During World War II in San Diego, CA, she met and married a Marine, Joseph Frank Gross, Jr., and he was her life long love. He preceded her in death on March 22, 1991. Mickey had a career with United Founders Life Insurance Company where she retired as a Vice President. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church of the Servant where she could always be found sitting with her "pew pals" on Sunday morning. She enjoyed Sharing the Kingdom Bible Study, volunteering in Earthglow Gift Shop, and participating in PrimeTime. Her neighborhood friends were like a second family to her as were her many other friends! She always looked forward to her bridge and card playing groups. She was affectionally known as Grammy to her two granddaughters, their husbands, and five great grandchildren. Her family and many friends will miss her love, laughter, and friendship. She is survived by her daughter, Terry Weaver and her husband Peter; her grandchildren, Stacy Humphreys and her husband Lance and Ashley Schurr and her husband Tom; her great grandchildren, Jake and Emily Humphreys, Astrid, Aleah Grace and Liam Schurr of Oklahoma City and Edmond. Following a private burial, a memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church of the Servant on Saturday, February 23, at 11:00am.
