Feb. 26, 1923 - Apr. 15, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY J.R. Revels, 90, gave up the fight on April 15, 2013, after a brief illness. J.R. was born on Feb. 26, 1923 in Ft. Smith, AR to Thomas and Madge (Smith) Revels. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII where he received the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, and he is a Purple Heart recipient. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he married the love of his life, Rose Marie Arnold, on Feb. 16, 1946. J.R. is a former fireman, construction worker, State of OK employee, and lobbyist. J.R. is survived by his wife Rose Marie, son Jay Scott and wife Dee Ann, daughter Janice Penny and husband Sam, grandchildren Amber, Crystal, Scotty, Katy, Kari, Alex, and Rylan, 7 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Paul Wayne Revels. Viewing will be today from 4-8 PM at the funeral home. Services are 2:00 PM Saturday at Wilmont Place Baptist Church.
