RICHARD AKIN

Oct 7, 1967 - Jan 11, 2013 OKLAHOMA CITY Richard "Richie" Lee Akin, 45, went to be with the Lord on January 11, 2013. He was born on October 7, 1967, in Oklahoma City, OK to Georgia & Jerry Akin. Richie grew up in the OKC area and graduated from Putnam City North in the Class of 1986. He worked for Mathis Brothers as a merchandiser for many years. In recent years, he worked as a school bus driver for Deer Creek Public Schools, a job in which he found great pleasure. Richie was a dependable, faithful and loyal person to his family and friends. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. He had a loving heart and had a way of helping everyone else be more loving as well. He used his humor to ease tense moments or to make a dreary day brighter. He loved spending time with his family and did so faithfully. Richie will always be remembered for his huge heart. Richie is survived by his mother, Georgia (Ray) Taylor; dad, Jerry (Jeanne) Akin; his sister, Julie (Jason) Hamilton, and niece, April, and nephew, Connor; brother, Jay, and nephews, John Patrick and Blake; and stepsister, Richelle (Ron) Atkins, and niece, Avery, and nephew, Ayden; all of Oklahoma City. He is survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends that were dear to him.
