Opal Mock Obituary

Opal Illeen Dorway Mock, 94, of Edmond, beloved mother, wife, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died June 16, 2010. Funeral Services will be 10:00am Saturday, June 19, 2010, at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel, interment to follow at Memorial Park. A visitation will be held Friday, June 18, 2010, at 7pm to 9pm. Born April 2, 1916, in Murphysboro, Illinois, Opal was the oldest of three children born to Sylvester Nicholas Dorway and Anna Berry Dorway. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Virgil R. Dorway and Gene N. Dorway, her half-brother, Charlie Dorway, her husband, Richard Myron Mock, and her grandchildren, Jeffrey and Anna Mock. Opal was baptized in Poplar Bluff, Missouri in the Walnut St. Church of Christ in 1946. She was a teacher in Sunday School for 35 years. She was deeply involved in the Bus Ministry, which brought children to know the love of Jesus. Opal worked at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. She was a homemaker and loved to cook. She was a fabulous grandmother. She could not wait to see the angels and the LORD. She was deeply loved by all who knew her. Survivors son, Dr. Richard Mock and daughter-in-law, Chyrrel Mock; daughter, Karen Ann Mock Quigley and son-in-law Bill Quigley; grandchildren, Jason Mock and granddaughter-in-law Irish Mock, Chris Ann Quigley Ceraso and grandson-in-law Bill Ceraso, and Matthew Quigley and granddaughter-in-law Ingrid Quigley; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Opal Ceraso, Jacob Ceraso, Hannah Quigley, Alex Mock, and Tristan Mock; nieces, Debbie Dorway and Julia Dorway; nephews, Charles Dorway and Tommy Dorway.
