Deborah Davis Obituary

Deborah Lynn Davis, 60, passed away on Friday evening, April 9, 2010, at Mercy Hospital due to a brief illness. Debbie was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma on July 12, 1949 to George and Barbara Rifford Jr. Debbie is survived by her husband of 37 years John E Davis Jr. of Deer Creek, OK; her two daughters Amy Coker of Oklahoma City, Meggan Shepherd and her husband Shawn of Okarche, OK; her mother Barbara Alexander of Yukon, OK; her brother George A Rifford III of Kansas City, KS; her sister Cindy Ross of Edmond, OK; one nephew George A Rifford IV of Kansas City, KS; two nieces Jenny Altman of Charleston, SC and Chelcy Carson of Georgetown, TX; mother-in-law Elma Berard of Deer Creek, OK. Debbie had four grandchildren, Aynsley and Alden Coker and Hannah and Morgan Shepherd. Debbie has been an Elementary School teacher for 27 years. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas. She went on to receive her Master's in Specialty Reading from the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Oklahoma. Debbie taught at the Second Grade level in St. John Nepomuk Catholic School, Cotteral Elementary in Guthrie and retiring at Holy Trinity in Okarche, OK. Debbie had a strong passion to teach and read with children, her favorite being second graders. Debbie had been volunteering and helping the Benedictine Sisters at the Red Plains Spirituality Center in Piedmont, OK. Debbie and her husband are members of St. Monica's Catholic Church in Edmond, OK. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM, Friday, April 16, 2010 at Vondel Smith North Colonial Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 17, 2010 at St. Monica Catholic Church, 2001 N. Western Ave., Edmond, OK.

I am so sorry for your loss. I was a Sigma Kappa sister and friend of Debbie during our college years at FHSU. I still laugh when I think about our adventures together including a fender bender on Main Street. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.
